Sunrise Engagement Shoot at Scarborough Bluffs
I was beyond excited to photograph this sunrise beach engagement at Scarborough Bluffs. Josh and Juchita had an amazing vision for the shoot and I was so happy that they picked me! The shoot is loosely based on the ‘Yellow’ music video by Coldplay, which starts off in the dark and ends after sunrise. If you haven’t seen it, go check it out!
We met in the dark at 4:30am. I thought we would be the only ones on the beach, but there was a big group of guys having a bonfire, staying up from the night before. We found our spot on the beach and waited for the sun. It was beautiful. We even had a seagulls flying around, adding something a little extra to the photos. I really love the way the photos turned out. Hope you guys enjoy them too.
I also thought that Josh and Juchita had a pretty interesting story about how they met and what inspired them to base the shoot on the song ‘Yellow’. Here’s what they had to say.
1. How did you guys meet?
We met in the 4th grade at our elementary school. Joshua was the new kid and according to him, I apparently went up to him and asked him to sniff my lipgloss. When he got close to it, I smeared it on his nose and ran away, LOL. Since then, I was apparently the girl in the braid that caught his interest.
2. What are your 3 favourite things to do together?
From the beginning our relationship has always consisted of us having late night chats (we literally would stay up until 10am talking on skype in our first year of dating). We also love going on adventures such as exploring new places to hike or bike or finding waterfalls. Finally, we recently found out that we FINALLY found a movie series we both love - Shrek. LOL. So we love binge watching it together.
3. Why "Yellow" by Coldplay? What's the story?
So in our first year of dating, Joshua was surprised to find that I was someone who didn't really care for music as much. I stuck to my Bruno Mars (still love that man). So he introduced me to Coldplay. I really fell in love with the song ‘Yellow’ because I'm a sucker for stars and love haha which is exactly what the lyrics are about. Joshua would always play it on the guitar and sing for me, so we made it our song. Around that time, the Ghost Stories album came out which was all about love, and I got hooked. Just listening to that song and that album constantly brings us back to our first year of late night skype calls, hang outs at the park, reminiscing about our elementary school memories, and how much we didn't know about each other despite being best friends in early high school. In a nutshell, it's just us.
